Why is it called the Surly Masher?

Why is the FIRST-EVER collaboration between Surly Bikes and Surly Brewing called the Surly Masher? We chose the name for two key reasons:

It related to the overall concept of bringing the two Surly brands together:

A mixture or fusion of disparate elements.

A Masher is one who does the mashing.  And 'mashing' is a term used by bike and beer lovers, alike.

Mashing (Cycling)
Pedaling faster in a low gear is called spinning. Pedaling slower in a high gear is called mashing.

Mashing (Brewing)
Mashing is the process of hydrating barley with hot water. This activates the malt enzymes and converts the grain starches into fermentable sugars.
